Meeting Minutes

Date:  October 10th, 2023

1.       Meeting start time – 11:30 am at 100 Mile House District Chambers

2.       Previous Minutes unavailable – no concerns

3.       Events for next month / 6 weeks discussed – will publish calendar (attached) – includes coffee dates, walk around visitor’s center lake, walk to water falls at Centennial Park, craft days, games day, Christman luncheon, Cristman wreath craft, monthly lunch

4.       Ö  Mike to check with members who will attend Xmas lunch so we can reserve restaurant

5.       Fund raising – Mike found out we can do various fund raising like 50 50 draws and raffles – but at this time we can not offer tax receipts. We have to become a registered charity first – that’s a federal registration versus the provincial society registration we have now.

6.       Mike will see what’s involved in getting permit from BC gaming for raffle and 50 / 50 draws.

7.       Mike to meeting with mayor of 100 Mile to request funding

8.       Mike to see if we can meet with Williams Lake mayor to request funding

9.       Mike to check with Casino for possibly funding

10.   Mike to check with MLA – Lorne Doerkson to discuss group and possibility of support and/or funding

11.   Mike to have phone call with BC Brain Association – Carol Paetkou (604-851-2670) to discuss support, marketing and possible funding.

12.   Ö  Mike to get business cards with names for Ken and Mike

13.   Mike to check with service clubs for possible funding – United Way, Rotary Club, Hospital Auxiliary. Lions club, Seniors Centre, possibly others

14.   Mike to put flyers and business cards in medical equipment retail shops in 100 Mile and/or Wiliams Lake

15.   Ö  Mike to discuss with District to virtually host out Directors / planning meetings – Schedule with District on Nov 7th

16.   Mike to check with Xmas markets to see is we can have a table to get information out and possibly sell 50/ 50 tickets or do our Raffle

17.   Mike / All Directors – to check businesses for Raffle prizes – please send emails of business you’re discussing with so we don’t duplicate efforts.

18.   Mike to get more Flyers form Fraser and Pine

19.   Mike to meet with Rob from Radio for PSA (public service announcement – need 6 to 8 sentences prepared and reviewed by Rob – aiming for Nov 7th when Mike is back from Mexico

20.   Msg Mike to check with Dennis from Soda creek to see if he is willing to be a director for William Lake area

21.   Mike to touch basis with Tshidi for ongoing support

22.   Next meeting – discuss bank account, software to track money in and out and prepare financial statements, prepare budget for year and 5 years plan, register charity (takes time – have to prove ourselves as a society first), Need to get approval for pictures of events to post on Social Media, BC Brain alliance has scholarships (educational) we can possibly tap into ($2000 max), Funding efforts – possibly Burger and beers night – sell tickets membership dues if any, membership election, AGM date
