Meeting Minutes

Date:  April 9th 2024

1.   Meeting called to order at 11:31 am

2.   Previous Minutes from February approved. March meeting was cancelled due to family issues.

3.   AGM – results of director elections

a.   Chair                 – Mike

e.   Director           – Bernie

f.        Mike to reach out to Chris, Cheryl, Bebe, Lorne, Keith, and Mayor Pickney to see if they are interested in becoming a director.  Kieth is possibly interested after tax season

4.   Treasure Report

a.   Donations received for Lions club in 100 Mile House and from Williams Lake

b.   Bank balance at the end of March was $734,

c.   Income tax filed- Notice of Assessment received

d.   Application for Charity status submitted by Keith (Accountant)

5.   Board Highlights

a.   We can now market that we have a First Responder on the Board – Congratulation Jenn.

  6.   Communications

a.   Our letters were sent to MLA – Lorne indicated he would present in Victoria – Mike to follow up

b.   Our letters also sent to MP – Frank Caputo sent group a letter – we will be meeting him in July when he comes for the car show on June 8th

c.   Our letters also sent to Prime Minister – health coordinator to be in contact – no communications yet

7.   Space - Talked to Legion president and vice president - willing to offer space – Mike to ask about weekly meeting space instead of United church and if a donation is possible

8.   Thank-you card and magnet sent to Lions club (100 Mile) and United Church.  Mike to also send card and magnet to Mayor Pickney for use of Chambers

9.   Marketing

a.   Summer Markets

                                                               i.      108 Mile on Saturdays and 100 Mile House on Fridays. 

                                                             ii.      Mike to reach out and see what kind of a deal we can get for a table

b.   Mike to reach out to potential MLAs in upcoming election – get their support early

c.   Mike to talk to Shirley to see about applying for some grants 

d.   Joint efforts with KBIA – Dave – very supportive – Mike to reach out to members to see who may be interested

                                                               i.      Course – Brain Injury Basics – 3 weeks one day a week

                                                             ii.      Course – Rebuilding After Brain Injury - 6 weeks one day a week

                                                           iii.      Seminar type – Connect, learn and grow – weekly

                                                           iv.      Councilor – Mondays weekly, working on an Emotional Management Course

10.   Weekly meetings at United Church to be changed to 1st and Third Wednesday of the Month – same time being 3:00 pm. Also, Mike to look at changing 4th Friday meeting at Williams Lake library to accommodate Ruth, Peter, Conrad and Todd

11.   Mike to order a poster and Easel for table so we can possibly share tables with another organization at the markets.  Mike to paint 6 medium sized ‘brain injury’ rocks to hold banner on table – e.g. Aphasia, Dyspraxia, Survivor, Respect, Strength, TBI
