Meeting Minutes

1.   Meeting called to order at 11:32

2.   Previous Minutes from July approved – motion by Chris, Second by Ken, passed

3.   Treasure Report – bank balance $2618, Casino funding for $1500 came finally through, rumors of funding from legion but new presidents may cause issues, Mike will bookkeep going forward to help Jenn manage her time with Fire Dept.  Jenn will pass off her binder and details.

4.   MLA for coffee at Moose was a no show – issues with floods 

5.   Bebe to offer programming at Williams Lake library – 2nd and 4th Tuesday in August - exciting times

6.   Marketing

a.   Markets – Mike, Chris and Bernie attend 100 South Cariboo Farmers Market in 100 Mile on Fridays in 100 Mile, Mike attends 108 Mile Market on Saturdays

b.   We will be attending Garlic Festival on Aug 24th and 25th – Mike to setup on 23rd, Mike and Chris on 24th, Mike and Chris at buffet on 24th evening, Mike on 25th and to tear down – Bebe to supervise Bouncy castle from 11:00 to 3:00 hours on 24th - any other volunteers would be great

c.   Article by Dave at Iron Fitness published – good feedback – hoping to publish an article every 2 weeks

7.   Fund Raising

a.   Grants – Mike still working on applications and write ups – need to clarify projects as directorship.  Meet with Bebe before hand to discuss and document Vision and Strategy to be included with grant application. Possibly get high school student to volunteer to help and they get volunteer hours, hiring people will be a challenge as they simply don’t want to live in the Cariboo.  Have to consider liability issues, apprenticeship programs, etc.

b.   Mike met with Cassandra Sullivan, Director, Provincial Clinical Programs =, Provincial Services Branch, Hospital and Provincial Health Services, Ministry of Health – good meeting – more action to follow up in September to coordinate efforts with other health group – she also offered to push through some grants if we apply

c.   Sally Watson offered to help push through grant application from 70-mile access centre if project applications received

d.   Trivia night with John from Kitimat – Cost about $1000 – potential for $1000 in funding if we can find prizes for Winners

e.   50 / 50 tickets in September – 500 tickets to be sold at $2.00 each – have tickets and permit – mike to get permit for October is Directors approve

f.        Legion presidency changed - willing to offer space and possible funding - Mike to follow up - email sent again – Mike will drop by

g.   Volunteers – look into Northern Group options, UBC, Thomson Rivers University, etc

8.   Advocacy

a.   Mike to reach out to Interior Health to see how we can collaborate - wait until strategic / vision documented

b.   BC – continue to meet with Jeff Sommers from BC Advocacy 

c.   Federal – Still working with Stroke Survivors Advocacy Group of Canada – some good talking points force discussion with MLA

9.   ID card – what’s your preference of the two samples – Mike to email out and get thoughts from Directors

10.   Meeting Space in 100 Mile

a.   Going to be changing Venue from United Church on Wednesdays to Library on Saturdays – should offer Church some financial for letting us meet there that past few month

11.   Liability insurance – expensive but may be necessary to reduce risks on directors – Mike to get policy and send out

12.   BBQ

a.   BBQ at Mike on July 21st was fun – lots of good people, food and conversation, even managed to get out on speed boat, pontoon boat was acting up that day

13.   Charity status – Mike to get update from Accountant

14.   Other business

a.   Bebe mention google apps could be viable option – Mike to look into Web site, Google meets, google voice, google drive etc.

b.       Peer training option to be investigated further
