Meeting Minutes

1. Previous Minutes approval – Motioned by Daniel, second by Ken – Approved
2. Marketing
a. Mike mentioned CRD Minutes noted passionate presentation by Mike at CRD Meeting.
b. Mike asked members / directors for stories of their recovery including lack of medical resources so MLA can take to Victoria
3. Shirley Sponagle
a. Discussed her history and knowledge on these types of groups.
b. Son had a brain injury a few years back
c. Was chair for Brain Injury of Canada
d. Extensive experience with financials for non-profits.
e. Mentioned to get professionals involved in group – like speech therapist, or Physio therapists
f. Start group for Family support as well.
g. Prepare budget so we can ask group for funding – need asap. E.g. Fraser Valley Brain Injury, BC Brain Injury would know who has $ available - Shirley will investigate further
h. Shirley provided insights in how to grow the group. Need to get politicians involved but remain non-partisan.
i. Shirley will assist in preparing grant applications
4. Cheryl Wiles – will assist in getting donations for Wednesdays meeting at the Church - 3:00 every week. Will be approaching BJ donuts, Save On, Freshco, Red Rock, etc….
5. Mike to order some thank you cards
6. Financial
a. Year end documents to be prepared – Mike and Jenn to meet with Accountant on Wednesday Jan 10th – Shirley volunteered to help with Year End Financials
b. Permits for 50/50 draws still to be investigated
7. AGM – Will be in March 12th 2024 – all members to please attend to vote on directorship
8. Update on Abilities Committee – meeting of this committee on Jan18th. Mike to attend.
9. Update on Stroke Advocacy of Canada – Will be publishing Brain Exercise that Mike created and distributed to membership.
