1. Meeting called to order at 11:33
2. Approve Previous Minutes from May
Motion by Chris, second my Kan - passed
3. New director – Bebe Introductions -Bebe introduced herself and the work she is involved with – Would like to train directors to help with her efforts, Ken motioned to have Bebe join group as a director, second by Chris, passed
4. Treasure Report
a. bank balance $1122
b. charity stats still pending
c. casino funding still pending
d. Jenn’s bank card needs to updated with proper phone number – not going to try to fix it.
e. e-transfer can not be setup (108 Market - $10 to attend)
5. Letters – MLA to Victoria – new letter on letterhead sent to Ministers – copy available at markets
6. Letter - Prime Minister – waiting to hear back – unlikely – will remove from minutes starting in August
7. MP – Meeting at car show in July, did receive a certificate of recognition – have not yet heard of a date or time. Mike followed up with email on July 9th
8. Received letter of recognition from 100 Mile. MLA still pending. Will get a cover to display of all certificates
9. BBQ at Mike’s changed from July 14 to July 21
10. Marketing
a. Markets
i. attending 100 Mile Market - good contacts, no charge
ii. attending 108 Mile Market - we have to supply canopy with weight, table and chairs – good contacts, $10 charge
iii. Volunteers appreciated
b. 100 Mile Free Press – another story come out – Mike and the brain
c. Mike and Bernie attended conservative meeting on May 25th – Mike asked question of candidates on their plan to improve healthcare – had a lively discussion - please advise if any other political meetings occurring
d. Grants – Mike still working on applications and write ups – can use some help
11. Advocacy
a. BC – Mike continues to meet with BC Advocacy group – slow progress, meeting next week
b. Federal – Mike volunteering as Treasurer and to help with web site for the Stroke Survivor Advocacy Group of Canada – currently they have Monthly meetings and are rather active in Ottawa
12. Meeting Space in 100 Mile
a. Legion presidency changed - willing to offer space and possible funding - Mike to follow up - email sent again – Mike will drop by
13. Insurance – Liability insurance is required to protect directors – couple hundred a year – Mike and Jenn to make it happen. Possible cost saving going through Chambers – Mike to follow up
14. 50 /50 – going to apply and order tickets – monthly draw – 500 tickets potential – Mike to follow up
15. Raffle – check into offer of quilt – other options – Mike to follow up
16. Bingo – Legion? Have to buy cards from BC gaming – prize amounts – Mike to follow up
17. Garlic Festival – free Table attendance – Mike can man table but need another volunteer for 4 hours (required). Bebe volunteered for 4 hours
18. Roger wants to offer counselling services – perhaps with Bebe? – need approval of board. Ken motion, Chris second- passed. Mike to send Bebe contact info
19. David Potter would like to do health and exercise newsletter every few weeks – Dave discussed his history with concussions and how diet and exercise benefited his recovery - motion by Ken, second by Chris - passed
20. Mike to provide Bebe with contact info for Vintage Athletics – email sent on July 9th
