1. Meeting called to order at 11:35
2. Approve Previous Minutes from December Motion by Chris, second by Bernie – all in favor
3. Mike computer died – caused lots of issues, new computer setup but email issues remain. Need to chat emails moving forward – brain.injury.2023@gmail not accessible anymore, setup CaribooBrainInjury@gmail.com to transition to – email for cariboobraininjury.com look like it will cost $28 / month each – google workspace – we have one account/user to host website. Bebe to investigate. New cards to be ordered when needed and flyers to be made to replace once out there
4. Treasure Report / Fund Raising
a. bank balance $7,572
b. owing – Mike – $3036.13 Ken? Mileage? Should association do some pay back or wait until charity receipts possible – to discuss in February when we have more directors at meeting
c. Two more 50 / 50 ticket sale permits – 1231933 and 1231930 – Have to send more information to Gov’t – use of funds, constitution and Bylaws, Financial Statements, AGM minutes, list of Directors, description of programs and services, Mike to send when back from Vancouver
d. Raffle – check into offer of quilt – other options. Chris and Mike to check next Week. Mike to prepare letter on letterhead for legitimacy
e. charity stats still pending – Feb 7 estimated decision date
f. Mike applied for fund from Tim Horton smile cookies – waiting to here back
g. Sally got $2K from 70 Mile Access, they received thank you card and magnet– deposited in December – balance above reflects this
h. Grants – Sally taking lead on Grant application
i. Mike to talk to Lorne (MLA) about possible operational funding for an office – Lorne expected to reply Friday
5. Speech exercises – becoming popular – doing 6 sessions a week now. Will reestablish sessions when Mike return for Vancouver ow that computer issues are resolved.
6. Advocacy
a. May be a Rally in Victoria with BC Advocacy group – Mike to see if we can attend with Lorne and Sally and BC advocacy to introduce a rural funding bill to increase funding for rural support groups like hours. Mike to chat more with Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health – MLA Cowichan valley – Debra Toporokski
b. Jeff from interior health to get back to Mike on possibly getting some contracts similar to Kamloops Brain Injury. Tshidi to follow up.
c. Mike to meet with Tshidi on Jan 21 st to discuss director conflict, office space, aging out policy, training resources, resource list.
7. Marketing
a. Website published to both cariboobraininjury.com and cariboobraininjury.org (Redirect)
b. Calendar online but not showing details – question to support forum but no resolution
so far. Bebe to investigate
8. Chris mention possibility of having a Nursing student involved with the Association to help in advocacy, training and credibility
9. Monique - Approved to have WL Library every Tuesday 2:30 – 3:30 – two time a month for Occupational exercise – two time a month for peer activities – Bingo on 21 st , another game planned every two weeks afterwards. Title for Monique – Social Coordinator – Business cards to not have names
10. Office space - Mike still to talk to Conrad 250-395-2233 at Green Building – possible space after chatting with Tshidi. Mike to talk to Susan Colins CHMA – 250-395-4883, 108 mile – Mike to chat with Hawk at 250-863-6784
11. Liability Insurance – Policy sent to Directors – no feedback received yet – Mike to discuss with lawyers
12. Bus – Sally was looking into grant – opportunity to provide bus access for our members and the community in general – any thought
13. Calendar Events approval – add Valentines Day crafts in 100 Mile, Williams Lake, Coffee in 100 Mile, Williams Lake
